Abstract

In the Article, there is a discussion regarding the crisis formed gradually in between the relations of Georgia and Ukraine. Particular reasons have been emphasized as an outcome of the research analysis.

Regardless the fact, that the two countries share no common border, and the Soviet Union was the only factor of their consolidation, positive relations between Georgia and Ukraine was visible from the start, after the break of the Soviet Union. The essential reason for the attraction of Positive relations, was the desire to be distant and independent from Russia, as well as the openly announced

Western policy and strive towards NATO, which developed the friendship of the countries into a strategic partnership later.
The “Rose Revolution” in Georgia and the “Orange Revolution” in Ukraine, was identical with its concept and drive. The change of the Government in Ukraine after the “Orange” Revolution, though, started the changes in the relation between Georgia and Ukraine. The friendship of two countries, even though, the leaders did not announce it openly, became under the threat, more precisely, the warm relations started to get colder. The research made it clear, that the main reason of “colder” relations of these countries, was still Russia, and the pro-Western orientation of Georgia’s Governing elite, which was different from Ukraine’s new Leaders.

In the Article, there is also, a discussion on the military cooperation of Georgia and Ukraine; the participation of Ukrainian volunteers at the war in Abkhazia and vice versa – military engagement of Georgian volunteers at the Ukrainian “Anti-terroristic Operations” (Lugansk, Donetsk).

Also, there is a discussion regarding one of the developed crises between the two counties, concerning the issue of Autocephalous of Ukraine. The research emphasized in this case as well, that the reason of tension in the relation was the factor of Russia again. The Government of Georgia didn’t exacerbate the already tough relations with Russia and with its over diplomatic announcements, left the particular trace on the quality of cooperation with Ukraine, lasting till today.
